5 months down the line, what's happened along the way

April 1st, seemed a perfect day to start my online campaign to get answers from Barclays. After 12 years it only seems fair.... Recapping for the folks that haven't been following this, 19th Feb 2009 I nearly get killed at work, the incident is hard to describe... for the next 7 years I'm dragged through the courts to try and get compensation for a list of injuries longer than my arm.

The side effects and various issues still haunt me now PTSD, an aquired brain injury, other physical injuries meant that I've not been able to deal with everything in way I would have liked. In all of this Barclays took a number of actions against me that could only be described as predatory.

Things got so bad I involved my MP Philip Hammond the chancellor at the time, he was kind enough to give me nearly 2 hours of his time and must have written a letter as things eased off for a while... Sadly he was then replaced and after approaching my New MP Dr. B Spencer I was hoping for more success... He was very supportive fully agreed this was bad for my whole famlies general health and mental wellbeing.

Sadly Barclays just ignored him, and his efforts for which I've thanked him, fell on deaf ears. The question remains why did Barclays start on me, what is the long term goal for them and how are they going about it.

Answering my simple questions would establish once and for all, how we got into this position. It's really simple I submitted some forms to a financial adviser, he in turn submitted them to the bank and some place between him and the bank things went wrong. I have a set of copies, he has a set of copies which would suggest this is a simple case irresponsible, unchecked or predatory lending. As the bank can't find their copies and refuses to accept that contracts are made up of three parts.

These are, what is discussed, what is understood and what's written down.... each element makes a part of the contract. We offered evidence as requested by the financial advisor, it was discussed and the approval process was handled by the bank. It appears this wasn't carried out correctly and the lending was as desribed. predatory, impossible or worse. Barclays when I first questioned this in the middle of my court case, after my life was auditted by the various solicitors for the injury case. Who came up with the following "Your mortgage simply is impossible, none of the safety criteria set out to protect you have been followed! You need to contact your bank!"

I duly did as suggested and then it started the reply was Barcalys where more than happy to help in my financial position to support my compensation claim, the little company I owned and operated, was just the sort of ground roots company they could get behind... and within 24-72 hours my business account was closed and I was thrown under a bus by Barclays....

No bank account, no access to money, no access to an accounts manager, no voice to be heard by anyone at barclays.... the subsequent weeks and months proved the hardest I have ever faced.

After being left unable to pay my solicitors they abandoned me, my compensation case went equally badly. The solicitors to secure their payment from my insurance, threw me under a bus and behaved in an extraordinary manner towards a vulnerable client.... The bank (Barclays) just became silent, after weeks and weeks of trying to get some form of reply. It started they had taken action to repossess the house. By tresspassing on my personal injury case and trying to force their agenda onto us. It seemed as everyone was now out to get us.

After finally making some headway on the injury claim, and telling Barclays to leave me alone, I was forced into an impossible arrangement by Barclays. I contacted the Ombudsman who found in my favour on the bullying, harrassment issues and recommended Barclays should negotiate. Again Barclays true to form does not negotiate they prefer intimidation, threats, bullying, lying or simple silence.... Which is their prefered choice of torture and torement.... there's around 100,000 of them working in the UK and no one can pick up the phone and do the right thing, discuss with me the way forward.

Which brings us nicely to here, why start a web page about Barclays and the awful service they claim is world class... Actually that's a fairer starting point "Barclays World Class at being Awful!"

In the last nearly six months what have I learnt.

  1. When Barclays says nothing they really mean it...!

  2. When Barclays claims to be interested in their clients, they really couldn't careless

  3. When Barclays invites you into their offices to discuss, it really reads to force you to comply

  4. When Barclays get recommendation from the Omdudsman or requests from Senior MP's and cabinet ministers to be truthful, they probably won't be

  5. When Barclays claims to be fair open and honest read that as liars cheats and thieves

  6. When they invite you to social media as a channel to negotiations, they basically hope that you loose the will to live and go away.

  7. When it all goes silent, Barclays thinks they've won....

That's what we've had so far, I know they've been reading this and at some point they'll have to respond.... I just don't know how.... The simple truth is the Ombudsman found in my favour, I must be the victim, the bank closed my account and the debt they caused and hold me liable for is an unjust debt. Barclays can't or won't answer any of my questions..... this speaks volumes on the balance of probability and based on their actions I have a point.... BUt they just don't want to hear it as I can't be the only one....

If you, or friends have been victims of Barclays it might be an idea to spread the word, if your concerned about your banks actions be aware they really don't like being put in the spotlight.... as proven when they called the police to get involved and I had to point out this was a civil matter....

So what has happened in the 5 months, I've demonstrated that I'm more than willing to negotiate, based on the volume of information. I can now demonstrate that Barclays simply chooses not to want to engage. More importantly there's a higher than average chance that one or more of my complaints is valid.

The Ombudsman cometh

So we've been back to the #Ombudsman, after being ignored by #Barclays since the 23rd Jan 2025 this year which in my opinion needed to be be looked at. I should clarify for the last 10+ years we've h
